Title:  EUD Advocacy, Campaigns, Communication, and Media Coordinator

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:  

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE: 

Save the Children International (SCI) is a leading organization in Sudan's education sector. Along with UNICEF, SCI is the county's CO-lead Agency for the Education Cluster. SCI’s education portfolio has grown significantly in the past two years, with more than 25 million dollars active awards. The education intervention operates in over 7 states, including two Darfur states. This required proper handling of the communication and advocacy commponents of the project and adequate information sharing among key stakeholders. 

The  Advocacy, Campaigns, Communication, and Media Coordinator will part of the Project Management Unit (PMU) and lead the public and private-facing advocacy, campaigns, communication, and media work for the EUD project in Sudan. S/he Serving as the focal person for advocacy, media, and communication inquiries related to the EUD project, the candidate will close work with the project partners and esure harmonizing the communication work among all partners. The ACCM will receive the proper technical support from the director of ACCM in charge.

The EU, donor, has special attention for the their education fund in Sudan and they demand for an identity for the project. Therefore, the candidate will require to have different cabailities of design, communcaition and media.

The role involves proactively engaging with donors, maintaining relationships, ensuring cross-departmental integration, leading advocacy-specific proposal development, and overseeing the compliance with donor visibility guidelines. 

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Key Areas of Accountability: 

Communication:

  • Develop an annual communications plan specifically tailored to the EU-funded Inclusive Education for Vulnerable Children in Sudan project, ensuring alignment with project goals and donor expectations.
  • Create tools, guidelines, and templates to support the implementation of the communications plan, with a focus on promoting the project's unique identity and achievements.
  • Lead the development and presentation of content, including articles, stories, strategic statements, sitreps, photos, messaging, fact sheets, and multimedia, targeted at internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure consistency in branding and communications guidelines across all project interventions, adhering to donor requirements and Save the Children's standards.
  • Spearhead information and communication flows between consortium members, donors, Regional Offices, and Save the Children entities, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Identify opportunities to highlight the impact of the EU-funded Inclusive Education for Vulnerable Children in Sudan project through compelling photo stories, case studies, and audio-visual materials, amplifying the voices of beneficiaries and showcasing project activities.
  • Manage communication events, such as program launches, to raise awareness and engagement among key stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement capacity-building initiatives to enhance staff skills in communication strategies and product development, fostering a culture of effective communication within the project team.

Media:

  • Identify media opportunities aligned with the EU-funded Inclusive Education for Vulnerable Children in Sudan project's objectives and target audience, preparing tailored messages, talking points, and media materials for dissemination.
  • Draft press releases and media briefs as needed, ensuring timely and accurate communication of project updates and achievements.
  • Monitor media coverage related to the project, tracking interviews and articles to assess impact and identify areas for further engagement.
  • Cultivate relationships with relevant media outlets to facilitate coverage of project activities and promote awareness of key issues affecting vulnerable children's education in Sudan.
  • Coordinate media events, including press conferences and interviews, to generate visibility and support for the EU-funded Inclusive Education for Vulnerable Children in Sudan project's goals.

Advocacy & Campaign:

  • Conduct thorough analysis of the education landscape in Sudan, identifying advocacy priorities and communication gaps relevant to the EU-funded Inclusive Education for Vulnerable Children in Sudan project's objectives.
  • Develop advocacy and communication strategies tailored to promote policy changes and institutional support for inclusive education, working closely with the ACCM Director and project partners.
  • Lead the design and implementation of advocacy campaigns aligned with the EU-funded Inclusive Education for Vulnerable Children in Sudan project's priorities, leveraging evidence-based messaging and strategic partnerships to maximize impact.
  • Collaborate with program and technical teams to integrate advocacy and communication activities into project interventions, ensuring alignment with Save the Children's advocacy goals.
  • Produce high-quality visual, written, and audio content to support advocacy efforts, disseminating key messages through appropriate channels to target audiences.
  • Engage with policymakers, government officials, and other stakeholders to advocate for policy changes and resource allocation in support of inclusive education initiatives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of advocacy and communication activities, adapting strategies as needed to achieve project objectives and maximize impact.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor degree or Master’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field. 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential Desireable

  • Extensive experience in leading media and communication teams in crisis response or advocacy settings. 
  • Proven experience as a spokesperson, representing organizations effectively. 
  • Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and collaboration skills. 
  • Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory; proficiency in additional languages is an asset. 
  • Familiarity with media relations, crisis communications, and engagement at national, regional, and international levels. 
  • Ability to manage diverse teams and stakeholders effectively.
