Save the Children Statement on Crash of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302
Copenhagen (March 10, 2019) -- It is with profound sadness that Save the Children confirms the loss of one of our dear colleagues, Tamirat Mulu Demessie, in the crash of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 from Addis Ababa to Nairobi earlier today. Tamirat Mulu Demessie served via Save the Children Denmark as a Child Protection in Emergencies Technical Adviser, working tirelessly to ensure that vulnerable children are safe during humanitarian crises. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this very difficult time.
Tamirat Mulu was an instrumental member of the Child Protection Team at Save the Children Denmark.
Roger Hearn, International Programme Director, Save the Children Denmark:
"We are all mourning the terrible loss of our dear colleague Tamirat Mulu Demessie who perished in the Ethiopian Airlines crash this morning. Our hearts go out to his family, friends and colleagues at this devastating time as we remember our dear colleague Tamirat.
While he was based in Addis, his work took him to so many contexts where he was known for so many valuable things including his amazing gift as a trainer. He has undertaken this work across the globe and his skills and enthusiasm have been communicated to me by so many people who were lucky enough to engage with him. It is tragic that such commitment and passion should be taken from us all so abruptly."
